Biography

Krissy Slawny is the Director of Operations for the U.S. Ice Drilling Program (IDP) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a co-PI on the IDP Cooperative Agreement with the National Science Foundation. Krissy is responsible for the day-to-day operations of IDP-WI, program administration, management of the IDP support facilities including the warehouse, drill maintenance facility and electronics lab, and the management of IDP engineers, support staff and equipment operators. She has deployed to both the Arctic and Antarctic in support of testing of the Deep Ice Sheet Coring (DISC) Drill in Greenland (2006), operation of the DISC Drill for the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) Divide deep drilling project (2007 – 2013) and as a U.S. representative and drill observer/assistant with the Danish polar program at the North Greenland Eemian (NEEM) Camp (2009). Krissy has also served as a member of the IceCube Drill Advisory Panel and as a Scientific Editor for a special issue of the Annals of Glaciology.
