The School of Snow and Ice (SNOWI), is 2-part professional development program for middle school and high school (ages 11-18) educators. The experiential nature of this workshop builds teachers’ background knowledge of cutting-edge ice core, climate change research, and empowers them to communicate authentic research practices, research data and results to their students. Embedded in the workshop are hands-on labs based on inquiry teaching and constructivist learning skills that can be used in almost any curriculum or subject area.
The pilot program of SNOWI was presented to teachers in Greenland in 2021 and 2022.
