Terry Melendy

Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory

Biography

Terry Melendy’s research focuses on polar engineering topics in support of transportation systems and infrastructure for remote, extreme cold regions of the world. His research and development efforts include development of methods for using snow and ice as construction materials to build and maintain runways and roads in Polar Regions and recommendations for effective procedures for operations and maintenance. The main goal of his research is to provide safe operating standards while making it logistically feasible to support research in these locations. Additionally, his work aims at understanding the limitations of constructing on snow and ice. Melendy has field work experience in Canada, Greenland, and Antarctica.
